Cake Versus Pie: A Scientific Approach
I love cake. Cake is wonderful. But it is too easy to get caught up in the idea of cake. When you compare the data, it is clear that pie is a better choice.

Twitter Wit: Brilliance in 140 Characters or Less by Nick Douglas is a 158 page collection of ‘witty’ tweets found, of course, on Twitter. Well, the ones by the Twitter users that authorized TwitWit to use their tweets, of course. Twwwwah!
I enjoyed the book. It’s a great coffee table (read: bathroom) book for a quick open-a-random-page-and-giggle sort of instant-gratification read. I spent 90% of the book giggling, 5% trying to memorize really outstandingly clever one liners, and the other 5% in awe of these masters of compression — 140 characters can say so much!
Do you have to like Twitter? No necessarily, though I’m sure it helps. My question to you, however, is — why not? I, for one, love Twitter. 140 characters is all I need and more than enough for most people without absolutely having to resort to ‘UR’ ‘L8R’ type language. Eeesh. It becomes a science, certainly.
Some will scoff at Twitter-themed books — the irony of having a book written about the best lines from an online social media portal is not lost on me — but I’ll tell you: I read it in one sitting and enjoyed it as thoroughly as it was meant to be enjoyed. It’s not classic literature, but it is classic Twitterature. *groan*
Want to get a sneak peak of the book? HarperCollins has a cool feature called Browse Inside! that let’s you… well, you get the picture. You can view up to 20% of the book before you buy it! Good to know what you’re getting yourself into, right? Try it out here — take a look inside Twitter Wit!

Awesome. Betty White finally agreed to host SNL — how awesome is that going to be? Her response to the huge outpouring of love on various social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter was “I don’t know why or how, but it’s been wonderful.” [via] As for why she hung out with Weirdo Spice at the Academy Awards last night, I don’t know. (To be fair, I like Weirdo Spice, but man she’s… well, weird.)
Today is International Women’s Day. It is a major day of global celebration of women. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements.
I am a member of the Wired Woman Society, who’s mission is to create an environment that encourages women to explore opportunities in technology, science and new media and to build successful careers that will allow them to become a driving force in these expanding sectors.
I have also just recently began a weekly column at BringITon.ca, a site that allows young women to connect with women in tech fields for coaching, mentoring, and events. Though I’ve only started, I plan to show just how it is to work in a field that has generally been and continues to be male-dominated. And it’s still new and exciting! I am often still one of the only women in attendance at many tech/gadget conferences.
I’m proud to be in Canada, a place where as a woman, I have the freedom to make so many choices in my career, my lifestyle, and my personal wellbeing.
Are you a woman working in a tech field? Tell me all about it! I’d love to hear from you.

I guess it’s not fair to say ‘forever’ as such a tryst would be so totally one sided. But hey, talk about unconditional love, right? Though I suppose having a delicious brain might be a condition. Once the brain is gobbled up, what’s left for us? You don’t bring me flowers, you don’t sing me love songs?
So a recent job application send by yours truly to ShootForTheHead.com has left me with zombies on the brain (aaah! aaah!) so I thought I’d ask the loyal readers here at HPG — what’s your favourite zombie movie?
Now, there are those of us Deadheads (wait, that’s something else) that love the classics — Night of The Living Dead, White Zombie, Dawn of The Dead, etc. There are those of us who like the cult flicks and b movies — Zombie Nightmare, A Virgin Among The Living Dead, etc. There are those of us who like foreign zombie movies, new and gorey zombie movies, corny ones, serious ones, ones that are social commentaries — really, the possibilities are endless. Or maybe you like them all. I, for one, have my favourites — Dead Set, Boy Eats Girl, Dead Snow, Zombieland, Fido, Dead and Breakfast, Dawn of the Dead (both versions give me different kinds of thrills) and dozens upon dozens more — but generally, I’ll watch anything ‘zombie’ once (including such hilariously terrible flicks as Zombiez and Monster A Go-Go).
So again, I ask — what kind of zombie fan are you? What movies/shows are your favourites?
