Artist Diem Chau usually works in porcelain, but she sometimes steps it up and uses crayons as her medium. The above picture is a photo of her carving of the 12 symbols of the Chinese zodiac. They’re on exhibit at the Packer Schopf Gallery in Chicago.

Hello HPG readers old and new, and welcome to the inner reaches of my brain. Welcome to the hive mind!
I’m sure this isn’t news to any of you who read sites like HotPinkGeek regularly, but I spend a good portion of my time ‘researching’ the most ridiculous things on the internet and sharing them with those who will listen (and a few who really won’t).
Over the next few days I’ll be sharing with you my favourite lists of 2009 — websites, crazy people, whoa-worthy videos — everything you’ve come to expect from HotPinkGeek and more!
Without further ado, here’s today’s list: Websites where you can waste absurd amounts of time!
Now, I’ve not spent a lot of time organizing them into rank – in my head or otherwise – so I want you to look at this list as one solid, flowing piece of crap artwork wherein you could randomly choose a link and be whisked away to a magical land of ridiculous/funny/mind-blowing and lose the better portion of your productive work day. I am to distract and amuse!
And… go! (Click here for HPG’s Top 25 of 2009: Websites where you can waste absurd amounts of time)

So far on Hot Pink Geek we have had geeky maternity clothes and geeky baby gifts but what do you do when the little one is starting to crawl around and play with things. Obviously standard toys simply wont due for your little Marie Curie or Rene Descartes but fear not spawning geek parents (myself included), ThinkGeek is there for us!
Young Mad Scientest Alphabet Blocks teach our budding Dr. Frankenstein’s everything from A is for Appendage to Z is for Zombies and everything in between.

U is for Underground Lair and other important childhood lessons.

This is by far the best and most creative baby blanket I have ever seen. I have two kids of my own and I am sitting here pouting a little that I didn’t open this at my baby showers. If I could knit I would start making these for every person I know who is pregnant or could even possibly become pregnant in the possible near future.
Seriously mad props to the mom who made the Cthulu Blankie!
