Rocket science is when scientists find out things about space… I think.

Power-girls vs. Geek-boy

Wonder Woman (TV series)
Image via Wikipedia

Let me start by saying hello. I’m new to the geek community after many years spent in the closet. It’s nice to be out.

I’ve got a list in my head of female comic book and TV characters that could most certainly kick my ass in a fight. And it’s not because I wouldn’t hit a girl.

This list will by no means be complete and I invite all of you, including our own little geek squad to chime in.

Without further ado, check out my list after the jump!

Social networking sites overtake email in popularity

Updated Tue. Mar. 10 2009 1:04 PM ET

CTV.ca News Staff

Social networking sites and blogs are now the fourth most popular online activity and are growing in popularity twice as quickly as traditional online pursuits, such as email and searching, a new report says.

The first thing I could think of after reading this tasty bit of news was: “What are the first three?”. Although the report itself doesn’t rank them (the four other sectors mentioned are search, portals, PC software and email), online searching is still king of the online activity hilltop. And with Google being just so darn useful, who can blame us. Social networking, once the realm of network enthusiasts and marketing professionals, is now so viral that “hit me up on Facebook” has replaced “gimme a call sometime” as the traditional way to extend invitations to socially hang out.

Because we want to see them dinosaurs

seethemdinosaurs

I’d do it. I’d totally do it. Though, I don’t know if I’d believe me if I were you — I am terrified of those plexi-glass dinosaurs in the museum. Srsly.

Start ‘em Young

Latest Review

Geeks are geeks from birth.

It’s hardwired, right there in their little brains. However, if the parent is so inclined, notices at the right points) it can be cultivated, cultured, nurtured and, well, in this case, let loose in a comic book store once a week and then given a homework assignment to review the comics as only a kid can.

Eight year old Liam is taken by his geek father to the comic book store, he picks out the comic of the week then he reads it. After literacy is done he dictates to his father the review of said comic.
At 8 he’s not only reviewing the story but the basics of the artwork. It’s not going to be long before he’s making mention of inking, shadows, differences between individual artists, etc.

Not only is this working on literacy but also raising more blessed geeks.

As I tell my own geek son…the geek shall inherit the earth.
